It's About You

Its that time of year again where Nickel Days Volunteers are busy putting together the festival for Thompsonites and our surrounding neighbours.  The Nickel Days Committee is looking forward to a great event.

MAIN STAGE LINE UP ANNOUNCED!

FRIDAY, JUNE 21st, 7:00 pm 

Keewatin Breeze: Country Rock band consisting of Grand Chief Garrison Settee, Grand Chief Arlan Dumas, Chief John Clark, Nigel Settee and Doug McKay

Humble Rumble: From Norway House, this YOUTH punk rock band is: Bradley Dixon, Colin Folster, Sammy Moore and Elvis Balfour.

A Rebel Named Riel: This emerging Canadian folk bank ‘took it’s first breath’ in Thompson in 2015.  Daniel Emerson, the singer-songwriter now resides in Winnipeg.  

Between The Ditches: Nickel Days is thrilled to have this Thompson group back on the Nickel Days stage.  Group is Delsie Burke, Mike Haggith, Justin Fuciarelli, Jenn Nyhof and Kory Wickdahl will close off Friday night.  

NICKEL DAYS CONCERT / SOCIAL - SATURDAY, JUNE 22nd, 8:00 pm

Average Joes: Hit the stage at at 8:30 pm. Tony Whalen, Karl Bennett, TW Smith, Tim Siddle, Dan Rose and Justin Fuciarelli have an awesome song regiment with everything including country classics, down home newfie songs and classic rock. This group absolutely WOWED fairgoers last year when they played the Friday Night show.  

Highway 373: A country / fiddle / classic rock group from BEAUTIFUL Norway House this group had it’s start on the talent show stage at York Boat Days.  Members are Clayton D’Aoust, Ryan D’Aoust, AJ Halcrow, Ron Osbourne and Kevin Cockle. Their debut album “No Limits” won “best rock album” at Toronto’s Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards in Winnipeg in 2006.  This group has performed all over the province including Churchill and Dauphin Countryfest.  They’ve opened for many established artists including Doc Walker, Charlie Major, Sammy Kershaw, Little Texas.  

AND Nickel Days 2019 Headliner – ‘The WATCHMEN’ these celebrated Canadian rockers with beginnings in Winnipeg are coming back to Thompson to ROCK the CA Nesbitt Arena in June 22!! Tickets go on sale the first week of June.

  • Mandatory ID and bag check at 2019 Nickel Days Concert & Social

    Be advised that government issued identification will be requested and bags checked prior to entry at this year's Nickel Days concert & social.  Please have your ID ready and purses / bags open to help speed the line.  Thank you for your cooperation! 
  • Nickel Days 2019 Safety Statement

    Nickel Days is pleased to advise that there will be an increased presence in both RCMP and Security during this year's event. Select Shows (midway), will also have on-site security.  Nickel Days has been working closely with the RCMP to ensure that all event times are shared. 

    Nickel Days would also like to ask for the public's assistance by contacting the RCMP (204-677-6911) should they see or know of any incidents.  

    The Nickel Days Board of Directors have been working diligently to bring you a safe and fun event. It is imperative that we all do our part in the community to make that happen.

  • DR. VONHOULIGAN show added to Nickel Days 2019!

    The Dr. VonHouligan, family stage show is a brand new addition to Nickel Days this year, and will happen outside on the TRCC field under the BIG TOP (Circus Tent)!

    This show is one you don’t want to miss and luckily Nickel Days is offering several times to catch it - Show times: FRIDAY: 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, SATURDAY: 12:00 noon and 5:30 pm and SUNDAY: 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm.  Admission is included in your Nickel Days weekend pass!

    Imagine the old days of circus with talented and mysterious acts of magic and performance. The Dr. VonHouligan performance acts include juggling, magic, fire breathing, balancing, balloon animals, gypsy carriages, mad science, whip, ring master, unicycle, and stilts. Grab a popcorn, cotton candy, refreshing drink and take a seat in the tent and enjoy the show!    

  • Laser Tag and Mini Putt at Nickel Days

     

    FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY - Lock & Load Games and Accessories will be set up in the GB Arena with LASER TAG and MINI PUTT!  NEW this year, Nickel Days is pleased to offer these fun activities to fairgoers INCLUDED in your weekend pass, no additional coupons necessary, no additional admission to Laser Tag and Mini Putt, just get your family in line and ENJOY!   

  • NICKEL STAGE 2019 under the BIG TOP!

    This year's outdoor NICKEL STAGE will be RAIN OR SHINE!  Nickel Days has added a BIG TOP (circus tent) to the festival, located on the TRCC field.  You'll want to visit often as it is absolutely jam-packed with fun for the whole family! 


  • NEW!!! Parade Crowd Contest!

    This year's Lions Club Parade as part of the Nickel Days festivities is going to be one to remember!  The theme is SUPERHEROES!  We can't wait to see how creative you all can be with your floats!  Prizes for the best of in many categories. 

    To register for the parade download a registration form and return to NC Crossroad Lanes. 

    AND NEW THIS YEAR is the Nickel Days CROWD CONTEST!!  Share a pic of yourself in your superhero gear at the parade on facebook, tag Nickel Days, use the #NickelDays2019 or submit via email to charlene@furtherdetails.ca to enter!  Nickel Days weekend passes are up for grabs, winner will be announced at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 22.  


  • EXTENDED!! NICKEL DAYS 2019 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - PHOTOGRAPHER(S)

    Nickel Days is seeking a photographer/photographers to join our team for the 2019 event (June 20-23, 2019) and some promotional events leading up to the event. Interested individuals should submit a brief expression of interest to the Marketing Chair – Charlene Kissick via email at charlene@furtherdetails.ca prior to MAY 24, 2019.

    Please include:

    • Contact details
    • Brief statement of relevant experience
    • Availability
    • References
    • Identify a process for delivery of the images
    • Cost OR ability to provide in a volunteer capacity

    The Nickel Days Committee will review and consider all EOI factoring in experience, cost, availability and alignment with the Nickel Days brand when choosing a photographer. Nickel Days reserves the right to decline any and all submissions.

    Nickel Days is an annual summer event in Thompson, Mb including a midway, stage show, booths, softball tournament, parade and National King Miner Contest plus many more family friendly events. Nickel Days is run by a volunteer board of directors.

Starts at the Museum, going west past Thompson General Hospital, continuing full loop of Thompson Drive, back to Princeton & Station Rd.
